Agnes Marian Sorenson

Agnes Marian Sorenson, 93, of Barnstable, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023. Agnes was born November 15, 1929, to parents William B. Shaw and Alice C. Shaw. She was a graduate of Melrose High School then proceeded to earn her degree from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, in Boston Ma. In 1952 she married the love of her life, the late Richard E. Sorenson. They were married for 57 years. Agnes & Dick raised their two children: their daughter, the late Laurel Sorenson, and their son, Richard E. Sorenson Jr. in Westfield, Ma. Here, Agnes was a member of the Westfield Women’s Club and volunteered at Noble Hospital for many years. Upon retiring to Barnstable in 1986, she truly enjoyed being outside bicycling, gardening, going to the beach, or walking. When Agnes & Dick weren’t enjoying the Cape Cod life they spent their winters in Florida and summers in Maine. Agnes was an avid knitter, enjoyed singing, and was an active member of the First Federated Church of Hyannis and the Republican National Committee. Agnes will always be remembered as being a kind, unselfish, generous Wife, Mom, and Nana. Her greatest joy in her life will always be her two grandchildren Riley & Calie who were by her side in the end. Agnes is survived by her son, Rick Sorenson, his wife Stephanie Sorenson and their children Riley Norcross Sorenson and Calie Shaw Sorenson. A private service will be held at a later date.
