

Anthony “Sal” Cotta, 91 died April 12, 2012. Born and raised in the west end of Boston, he served proudly in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during WWII. After returning home, he worked various jobs including one at Jordan Marsh while completing his education at Boston College attending night classes. He secured a position with Quinn Freight where he became a successful sales person and began to develop his entrepreneurial nature. In 1970 he founded the Polar Transport Inc., which he retired from in 1985.
Being an extremely generous person, Sal became a year round resident of the Cape and spent time volunteering for organizations including, the Cape Cod Times, Elks, and the Barnstable Police. He was also a member of the Fraternal Lodge A.F.& AM of Masons, Centerville MA. Although he loved to read, fish and watch sports, his first love was helping others. He will be remembered and missed by his family for his friendly, giving nature.
He was predeceased by his sister Josephine DiFria. He leaves his wife and best friend of 72 years ,Sandra as well his son, Anthony F. and wife Loretta of Plymouth, daughters Sandra A. Holstein of Springfield PA and Susan E. Balboni and husband Paul of Plymouth. Sal is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Sal’s request, services are private. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607.
