Barbara was predeceased by her husband Edward of 62 years, and her parents James Addison and Marion (Whittemore) Tilden, Jr.
Barbara (affectionately known as Barbie) was born in Boston and attended Park School, Beaver Country Day and Smith College. During World War II she was a Volunteer for the American Red Cross in Boston.
Barbara and Edward lived in the Hartford area for 62 years where she was involved in many clubs and organizations; The Town and County Club, the Smith College Club, the College Club, the Musical Club of Hartford, the Greater Hartford Easter Seals and several bridge clubs.
Music was a big part of her life with her lovely Soprano Voice, she sang in the Unitarian Universalist Church of West Hartford for over 47 years, with Treble Clefs in CT, at her Debut at the Country Club in Brookline, plus various school productions and recently in her room in Chatham.
She was an Artist and always had some kind of needle work or craft project at hand until her vision declined. Barbara and Ed loved to travel and often with their golf clubs when they weren’t playing at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT where they were members for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughters Lucy and her husband John Carty, Amy and her husband Charles Gouger; granddaughters, Lisa (Carty) and her husband Anthony Dineen, and Stephanie Carty; great-grandchildren, Hope, Charlotte, Dominic, and Parker.
