

Born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey, the son of Louis and Mary Serpico and brother to Mary Lou Leach, now deceased. In his early years, he attended Montclair schools and graduated from NYU with a degree in radio broadcasting.
He served in artillery of the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean War, and later transferred to radio to finish his enlistment.
After his service, Dan worked in Wildwood, New Jersey, then, moved to Cape Cod where he was WOCB AM/FM’s morning announcer for 20 years. His passion for radio and his community lead him to have a Saturday night Jazz show, found the first sports talk show and announce play by play for area high school football, basketball, hockey, and baseball. He was active in town affairs elected as chairman of the recreation committee, the Parks & Recreation Committee and chaired the first DPW. He served on the board of the Cape Symphony for 10 years and was elected president ex-officio of the board. Following his career in radio, he worked in the banking industry where he formed his own marketing and advertising firm.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Sally Taylor Serpico; his beloved sons, Daniel Ross Serpico and his wife Kate Walsh of Holliston and West Hyannisport and Robert Andrew Serpico and his wife Victoria Sledge Serpico; his five grandchildren, Matthew Serpico of Dubai UAE, Patrick Serpico of Boston, Alison Serpico of Centerville, Taylor Serpico of Brighton, and Mia Serpico of Holliston.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Barnstable Unitarian Church, 3330 Main Street, Route 6A, Barnstable, at 11am on Thursday June 11 and visiting hours will be held Wednesday June 10, 4 to 6 pm at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis.
