DeWayne was born in Pekin, IL to Merle and Genevieve (Barresi) Stallings. He spent the majority of his childhood years on Blue Lake in Park Rapids, MN which he loved. He married Kathleen (Williams) Stallings in 1975 in an apple orchard at the University of Minnesota, Morris which they both attended. He would later go on to receive his Master's Degree in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design, an accomplishment of which he was always proud. DeWayne and Kathleen moved to the East Coast in the early 80's and eventually built their home on Cape Cod, MA. Over his 33 years of teaching art and composition, he touched the lives of hundreds of students through his passionate and creative instruction. He held positions at the Forman School, Fay School, Sturgis Charter School and most recently Cape Cod Academy. As a professional artist his works were displayed at numerous galleries throughout New England. An avid writer, he enjoyed sharing his haiku and experiences with friends, family and strangers at the local coffee shops.
In lieu of flowers please give donations in his name to the Cape Cod Academy Art Department so that future students may find their love of art.
