Diane Edwards

Diane Edwards, 74, died January 11, 2013 after a lengthy illness.. She was born and educated in New Malden in Surrey, UK. Following graduation, she worked as a cardpunch operator on some of the early computers. She met her husband David in the UK with whom she shared and enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Together they raised six children.

In 1979 they relocated to Cape Cod where she worked for the Christmas Tree Shops for 20 years before retiring 9 years ago. Working initially as a stock clerk, she rose through the ranks to become a trainer, helping to train the staffs of new stores as they were opened.

She enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting. Devoted to her family, she will be remembered for her cheerful, upbeat personality and great outlook on life.

In 2009, she was predeceased by her only son John. She is survived by her husband David, daughters, Dawn and husband Derek Hoare of the UK, Patricia and David Maughan of the UK, Sally and Robin Potter of the UK, Nicola King of Hyannis and Helen and Frank Flint of Maine. Diane also leaves her sister Daphne Witt of Maine as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday January 17, 2013 at 5 pm at the Elks Fraternal Center, 852 Bearses Way Hyannis. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the VNA of Cape Cod 255 Independence Dr. Hyannis 02601.
