
He graduated from Beverly High School in 1937 and was a long time resident of Peabody, Massachusetts. He worked at the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly for 44 years as a carpenter. During World War II he served with distinction in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Africa and Europe. After retiring and moving to Cape Cod he drove a school bus for 12 years for the town of Dennis. He was an avid golfer and won many tournaments in high school along with his twin brother William and continued to play well into his 80's. He enjoyed the beaches, golf courses and many friends that he made on the Cape.
He was married to the late Irene (O'Connor) O'Brien for 61 years. He leaves behind two sons, Ronald O'Brien of Marlboro, Massachusetts and Robert O'Brien of Westminster, Massachusetts and six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 3rd at 11:00 am at St Pius X Church, 94 Station Avenue, West Yarmouth at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 1:30 pm.
