

Born on February 5, 1915 in Somerville MA, she was raised there and in Round Pond ME. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, ME. Ethel was the first police woman in Melrose, MA where she also worked as a crossing guard. She later worked at Melrose Savings Bank and at Filene’s Dept. Store.
After moving to Hyannis in 1969, she dedicated her time to many volunteer hours at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis and worked on many fund raising committees and in the parish gift shop. She received the Marian Medal from the Bishop of Fall River. She was a member of the Irish American Club of Cape Cod and NARFE. She is survived by her son, Edward A. Zink Jr. and his wife Roena of Yarmouth, ME; two daughters, Joyce Mahan and her husband John of Hyannis, MA and Barbara Whitman and her husband William of Green Valley, AZ, 11 grandchildren and several great- grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friend, Jim Robinson of S. Yarmouth. She was predeceased by her brother Billy Ringer and two sisters, Loretta Ottovani and Edith Zink.
Visitation will be Tuesday December 14, 2010 from 4-7pm at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St.. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at the St. Francis Xavier Church, South St. Hyannis. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
