Gilvecio De Barros Coelho

Gilvecio De Barros Coelho, 70, of Hyannis, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Cape Cod Hospital following a series of cardiac events, further complicated by anemia and the recurrence of cancer.

Born on January 25, 1955, in Governador Valadares, Brazil, Mr. Coelho lived in Massachusetts for over 40 years, with the majority of that time on Cape Cod. He was known for his deep love for his family, vibrant personality, and enduring work ethic.

He is survived by his current wife, Cláudia Do Vale Coelho. He is also survived by his former wife Jacqueline Lee Miltenberger-Coelho; mother to his children Nanci Lee Coelho and Adrianna Lee Coelho; his son Raphael Augusto Barros; as well as his grandchildren, Rico Ronaldo Silva Coelho and Giovanni Romeo Ribeiro Coelho, children of Adrianna, and Rafaella Maia Barros, child to Raphael.

Gilvecio was a passionate fan of Cruzeiro and was watching a soccer match on Sunday, April 13, when he suffered the first of several cardiac episodes. Despite the tireless efforts of the medical team at Cape Cod Hospital, he passed away in the early morning hours of April 15.

He spent his life cooking both professionally and at home, often showing his love through food. Known for his sense of humor, musical spirit, and joy for soccer and dancing, he brought energy and laughter wherever he went. Friends often said, “Gilvecio is here, now the party can start!”

A wake will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W Main St, Hyannis. Additional visiting hours will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, followed by a Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 347 South St, Hyannis. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine St, Centerville. Following the burial family will be intimately gathering to honor his life and hope you to do what you can to honor his memory once he is put to rest.
