

Irene was born and raised in Lexington, Massachusetts. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1957. After marrying, she lived in Billerica, Massachusetts, before moving to Cape Cod in 1973, where she resided in South Yarmouth and Sandwich. In 2011, she moved to Centerville shortly after her husband Phil passed away.
Irene had a deep love for dogs, especially her cherished dog Rocky. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed sharing ice cream, particularly McDonald's M&M McFlurry and Hoodsie ice cream cups, with her granddaughter Alexis. A regular at the 99 Restaurant in West Yarmouth, her favorite order was a cheeseburger. Irene had a passion for flowers and grew her own beautiful roses. She enjoyed classical music and was known for her cooking, particularly her meatballs and sauce and lobster newberg. While cooking, she always had a bottle of Carl Rossie by her side. She also had a fondness for cruise ships, having been married on one.
In her community, Irene was a communicant of Christ Chapel in Centerville and a member of the choir.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Thorne) Draper and was predeceased by her husband Phillip T. Morrison, her first husband Donald Thomas and her brothers Richard and Kenneth Draper. She is survived by her son Michael Thomas, daughter Nancy Thomas and her husband Adrien, and granddaughter Alexis. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lynn, Mary Jane, and Pamela.
Visiting hours will be held at Christ Chapel, 1200 Old Stage Rd., Centerville, MA 02632, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9-11 AM, immediately followed by an 11 AM service. Burial will take place at Sandwich Town Cemetery in Sandwich, MA.
Irene's life was a testament to her love for family, community, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
