Irene R. Sable

Irene R. Sable, 85, died peacefully on March 4, 2012 at the Eagle Pond Nursing facility in S. Dennis. She was born in Malden, MA on June 16, 1926 the daughter of Dorothy Tabulsky and Julius Silverman. Irene grew up and was educated in Brighton, graduating from Brighton High School. She received additional training in a secretarial program following her graduation. She is survived by her loving husband Morton Sable who she married 1947 while he was stationed at Otis Air Force Base on the Cape. Their 65 year marriage included a working relationship in their family electrical supply business, involvement in fraternal and social organizations including, Friends of the Barnstable Senior Center and the Grotto body of the Masons. She was also active in the Ladies Auxillary Brighton War Veterans. She also leaves her sister Shiela Rabinovitz of W. Yarmouth, daughters, Ronda and husband Robert Hanson of Seattle, Elise Udwin of Carlsbad, CA, her son William and wife Pamela Sable of Abington, MA and her grandson Ram and wife Deanna Udwin of San Diego, CA. She will be remembered for her beauty and extreme loving nature which she gave freely to everyone who came into her life. Irene adored animals especially her three dogs and cat. Devoted to her family she loved being a homemaker, baker and knitting and crocheting for her friends and family. Those who were close to her referred to her as the “afghan queen.”

A funeral service will be held at the Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter St. Hyannis, MA 02601 on Friday March 9, 2012 at 11am. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. The family will receive friends at the family home during three evenings of shiva beginning at sundown on Saturday March 10, Sunday March 11 and Monday March 12.
