Janet Lucille Hallowell

Chatham- Janet Lucille Hallowell, 88, passed away on September 20, 2021. Jan was born at home in Belmont, MA to Stewart and Lucy Pearl Thompson. She graduated from Belmont High School and continued her education at the New England Deaconess Hospital where she became a registered nurse. On October 9, 1954, Jan married the love of her life, Walter Edwin Hallowell. They were married for 56 years. Jan and Walt loved to travel. Upon their retirement in 1983, they spent their winters in Sun City West, Arizona only to return to Cape Cod in the summer. Jan leaves behind her loving daughters, Heidi Conti and her husband Jay of Hyannis, MA and Kathy Picariello of West Yarmouth, MA. Jan was a devoted Nana to her granddaughters Meredith Conti of Hyannis, MA and Amy Kemp and her husband Chris of Deland, Florida. Her great- grandson, Clayton Walter Cummings was her treasure among all else.

Jan’s family is thankful for the exceptional care given to her by the entire staff and team of Broadreach Hospice and Liberty Commons. There will be no service as per Jan’s wishes. Memorial donations in Jan’s memory may be made to: St. Pius X School, 321 Wood Road, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
