Jeffrey Bryans passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 30th, 2010 on Nantucket Island. He was 46 years old and managed to make a multitude of friends and accomplish quite a bit in that short period of time. He divided his time between Centerville, Nantucket Island, Rangeley Maine, and Delray Beach, Florida. He owned and operated the Nantucket Boat Rental Company and was a familiar figure on the docks. He took great pride in obtaining his Captains license and enjoyed plying the waters of Nantucket and Florida as an angler and wildlife tour guide . He was an expert skier as well and enjoyed that pursuit from the mountains of Utah to the hills of New England. He was a good friend to many animal lovers, and would go to any length to help a friend or animal in need.
Jeffrey was born in Springfield, MA and raised on Cape Cod. He attended local schools. He was a graduate of Tilton Academy in New Hampshire, and Syracuse University. After college he worked for a time in Hawaii, and Aspen, Colorado before founding Nantucket Boat Rentals.
Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Carol Bryans of New Hampshire, Dr. Douglas A. Bryans of Centerville, and a younger brother, Jared-Christian Adams Bryans of Nashville, TN. In addition he is survived by his two Labradors, Sally and Emma, whom he referred to as his dearest friends in the world. Jeffrey will be sorely missed by his family and all of his friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 19th at the Massachusetts Audubon’s Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, 345 Bone Hill Road, Cummaquid, MA.
Contributions in Jeffrey’s memory will be gratefully accepted by Labrador Retriever Rescue Inc, PO Box 77, Hamilton MA 01936.
Say not in grief “he is no more”,
but live in thankfulness that he was.
