AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Joan Marie Bird

8 août 1937 – 3 novembre 2025
Avis de décès de Joan Marie Bird
AUX SOINS DE

Doane Beal & Ames

Joan "Joanie" Marie Bird, 88, of Hyannis, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Joanie was such a fun person to be around. Her humor and kind heart brought laughter wherever she went. Always ready with a good joke, she loved painting, mystery movies, animals, and spending time with family and friends over a glass of wine.

Joanie was born in Boston, MA and raised in Jamaica Plain.

She graduated from Roslindale High School in 1956. After high school she joined the Air Force and was stationed at Randolf Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas from 1956-1958.

Joanie moved to Cape Cod in 1963 where she raised her three children. She was a long-time member of the Hyannis Elks & Emblem club and she was well known to many as a friendly face at Mildred’s Chowder House, a beloved Cape Cod landmark, where she worked for 18 years. Joanie also worked at Viola Associates until she retired in 2010.

Joanie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ritter, and her husband, Tony, of Roanoke, VA; her sons, Tom Bird and his wife, Julie, of Sandwich, MA, and Tim Bird and his wife, Carolina, of Naples, FL. She was the proud grandmother of Kimberly, Brittany, Noah, Jessica, and Sofia, and great-grandmother of Harper, Grayson, and Colton.

Joanie is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, along with her extended family and friends on Cape Cod who helped a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Bernie D’Entremont, and her sister Carol Fichter.

In keeping with Joanie’s wishes, there will be no formal service.

The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cape Cod in her memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cape Regency Nursing Home and Hospice of Cape Cod for their kindness and compassionate care.
