Joan Cynthia Knowlton

Joan Cynthia Knowlton, 95 years, died on April 28, 2025, at Cape Cod Hospital. The daughter of Mildred and D. Ernest Carson, she grew up in Quincy and was educated in Quincy schools. She graduated from the Woodward School in 1947 and the Boston Dispensary School for Medical Lab Technology in 1949. Her work experience took her to Pratt Diagnostic Hospital, Boston, Cape Cod Hospital and Milton Hospital, Milton, MA.

In 1955, she married William P. Knowlton and moved to Cape Cod where she has since lived.

She is survived by her daughter Victoria J. Knowlton and her spouse Megan Knowlton. She is also survived by her granddaughters Cynthia and Jessica Knowlton, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her husband William and her sister Mary Carson, her son Andrew Knowlton and her brother George Carson.

Joan was a strong believer in contributing time and talent to community organizations. She volunteered as a regular participant in the Salvation Army, United Way, Big Brothers & Big Sisters and the Barnstable schools. She as a past president of the Garden Club of Hyannis and a 50 year-plus member of the federated Church of Hyannis where she was an active member serving on many committees.

Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund at the Federated Church of Hyannis.
