March 28th 1941- Sept 23, 2017
Linda was sent home to her almighty creator on Sat, Sept 23 2017. Linda was a strong woman who was battling chronic heart disease, suffering kidney failure and life long struggle with Diabetes. We asked her to fight and she fought for as long as she could. God decided to ease her pain and suffering and allow her to finally rest in the heaven she so well deserved and praised.
Linda was a pillar of our family, she emulated the words Strength and Love. She loved with her whole heart and gave blessings to all who were in need every chance she received. She loved everyone as though they were a part of her family and showed that in every laugh, smile and gesture. Linda’s love of crocheting was one of many gifts from God. We know many family and friends who have received a beautiful creation she handmade special for them. It is what gave her peace and joy. Her creativity and passion to craft was always flowing in abundance. From her most popular Afghans to baby clothes, dolls and trinkets, Linda made them. Linda was an avid Scrabble player and loved doing crossword puzzles, all of which nobody could ever compete. She was also a professional game player whether online, harvesting crops and growing big farmlands or at her kitchen table where she would take down every competitor in Rummy. Linda was a proud Cape Verdean and enjoyed going to dances and festivals to listen to the music she loved most.
Linda’s early years consisted of mostly her career in Manufacturing and in Electronics, in which she retired from. She worked very hard and still took care of her daughters.
Linda’s family was priceless to her. Her daughters, granddaughter and great grandson is who she tried to keep fighting for. Her great grandson was a true blessing from her almighty God who she loved with every breath she took. They had many memories together which she held close to her heart. It was the moments he waited for, to see his “Cape Cod Nana.” From the rides in the stores on the handicap carts to making his Nana look at everything new he ever received. No matter how tired or in pain she pushed herself so she could cherish every single moment. He was always the light she needed along with his mother who gave her, her first bright light. The two of them together were Linda’s life and salvation.
She was the widow of John Pimental. In later years, her life was blessed with two loves, Lino Mendes Sr and Richard Barros. They will all meet in heaven and rejoice in the love they created. Our hearts will miss her dearly but know she is at peace and with the ones who she loved. We are in hopes that this reunion will be the one she has dreamed about for so long, peace, love and happiness. There is much love left here on earth for all them.
Linda was preceded by parents Louis M Gomes and Rose J Gomes. She was also preceded by her beloved brother Jeffrey M Gomes.
