Margaret J. MacLeod

Born in Boston, MA, Peggy was the daughter of the late John and Janet M. MacLeod. Ms. MacLeod attended the Massachusetts General Hospital School, and then secretarial school in Boston. Although disabled by osteomyelitis as a child, Peggy was fiercely independent, self-sufficient, dedicated and caring. She always conducted herself with integrity and dignity.

She was employed by Massachusetts Indemnity and Life Insurance Company from the early 1940’s until 1978 and then served in the trust department of New England Merchants National Bank, Bank of New England and Fleet Bank from 1978 until 1991. Ms. MacLeod was a member and former officer of the Federated Church of Hyannis, a member and Past Deputy Grand Matron of the Roslindale Chapter 104, Order of the Eastern Star and a very active and

dedicated member of the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary, serving the Barnstable Branch as recording Secretary for at least 10 years, as Chairman for 2 years and as Secretary of the Governing Board.

She is predeceased by her sister Janet A. MacLeod, her brother Hector D. MacLeod (Sonny) and his wife Mary Kirby MacLeod.

Friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM and her funeral service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, MA. Burial will be private and at a later date in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA.
