

PLYMOUTH- Martin F. “Tom” West, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Costa) West, with whom he shared many loving years of marriage.
Born in Plymouth on April 6, 1949, he was a son of the late Martin F. West, Sr. and Mary I. Gailes. Tom grew up in Middleborough and was a graduate of Middleborough High School. He lived in Carver for 27 years where he and Donna raised their family, until moving to Plymouth in 2000. Tom spent 29 years working for Brady Enterprises in Weymouth where he was a Production Supervisor. He also served as a volunteer Firefighter for the town of Carver for 20 years. For the last ten years, he worked at The Market in the Pinehills.
Tom will always be remembered for his admirable work ethic and wonderful sense of humor. He was sociable, dependable, and a wonderful friend to all. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and sitting in his recliner, watching Westerns. Above all, he cherished the time spent surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Pampa” or “Gramp.”
In addition to his wife, Donna M. West, he is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Michael A. West and his wife Hannah, Matthew S. West, Adam B. West and his wife Margaret, Brian D. West and his wife Jamie, Dawn E. King and her husband Stephen, and Daniel F. Schlecht and his wife Sandra; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Judith Cavicchi and her husband Frank, Stephen West and his wife Patti, Lance West, Mary Twieraga and her husband Mike, William Gailes and his wife Brenda, Robert Gailes and his wife Ann, and Jennifer Robare and her husband Brett; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his brother, Michael Gailes; and his sister, Laura Ballerini.
