Mary Alice Cusick

“Tippy”, died peacefully on October 3, 2013, at the Royal Nursing

Center in Falmouth, where she had resided for the past year and a

half.

Born on June 24, 1927 in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the daughter

of the late Charles C. and H. Eloise (Buck) Holtzworth. She graduated

from Fairmont High School in 1945 and Hood College in 1949. She

married Carl Schaad in 1949 and Thomas Cusick in 1963.

Mary’s favorite place was at the beach. She could be found sitting at

Craigville Beach Association from early spring until late fall.

For the past 7 years, Mary fought a long and hard battle with vascular

dementia. It was her strong will that kept her among us. It was

truly a long goodbye.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Millicent Delaney and her

husband, Richard of Centerville, Mariella Whitney and her husband,

James of Snoqualmie, WA, Margaret Cole and her husband, Bruce of

Osterville; and her six grandchildren, Miles Delaney and his wife,

Katie, Ryan Delaney, Amy Whitney, Kyle Whitney, Ian Cole and Jared

Cole.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the

Royal Nursing Center’s Resident Sunshine Fund, 545 Main Street,

Falmouth, MA 02540. This fund provides an excellent activities

program to enrich the lives of those inflicted with Alzheimer’s

disease or dementia.

Tippy’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Royal

Nursing Center and Fidelis Hospice and Palliative Care for the

wonderful care that she received.
