

She leaves behind the love of her life, her daughter Mila, her sister Sonsorrae Barrett and nephew Nate Anderson. Matia was a hilarious, sassy spirit who made everyone around her laugh. She will be dearly missed by many family members and friends.
Matia graduated from Barnstable High School where she was a member of the Imani Club. In addition she was an avid figure skater who enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a graduate of Cheyney University and later received her Master's Degree from Delaware State University.She was employed by Gosnold Treatment Center in Falmouth. At the time of her death Matia was the Director of Criminal Justice Services for Delaware Council on Gambling Problems in Wilmington, Delaware.
Visitation is from 11 AM to 1 PM followed by the funeral at 1 o'clock, Saturday May 20th at Zion Union Church, 805 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, Ma.In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to support Mila, Matia's seven-year-old daughter, as well as the ceremony and burial costs.
