

West Hyannisport- Maureen (Lehane) Franklin, 52, lost her battle with colon cancer on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She passed away peacefully in her West Hyannisport home surrounded by her family. She was a former resident of Hanover, MA.
Born in Melrose, she was the eldest daughter of the late Timothy and Kathleen Lehane of Winchester, MA.
She attended high school in Winchester and later graduated from Bentley College and Laboure College. As a nurse, she enjoyed a rewarding and successful career as an Infection Control Practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital where she served on the Emergency Preparedness and Bio-Threat committees. She also served as a controller/evaluator for emergency preparedness drills at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Maureen enjoyed vacationing in Florida with her family and friends. Her hobbies included boating, fishing, and sewing. She was also a dog lover who enjoyed spending time with her two loyal companions, Pumba and Rylee.
Her loving husband of 26 years, Stephen Franklin, survives her as well as her three children: John Franklin of Perry Hall, MD, Kimberly Franklin of West Hyannisport, MA, and Kathleen Franklin of West Hyannisport, MA. She is also survived by her brother John Lehane of Winchester, MA, her sister Patricia Johnson of Pembroke, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be welcomed at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 11. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville. at 10 a.m.
