

W. Yarmouth/Everett – Vincent B. English, 86, died January 19, 2011 after a brief battle with Mesothelioma. Born raised and educated in Everett, he entered the Coast Guard and served aboard the U.S.S. Leonard Wood during WWII following his graduation from high school. After he completed his service to the country, he joined the Pipefitters Local 537 and spent his career working as a Union Pipefitter on major projects throughout the Boston area. Vinny was passionate about politics and served as both an Alderman as well as City Counselor in Everett. He was a life member of the Elks and was a past exalted ruler in 1956 – 1957. He also loved to smoke cigars and spend time at the horse races.
He married his second grade sweetheart Gertrude Crowley in 1946, a marriage which lasted 57 years until her passing in 2003. He was also predeceased by a son Vincent in 1994. He is survived by two sons, James (Toby) English of Everett and John English of W. Yarmouth. He also leaves his two sisters Grace English of Malden and Margaret Richardson of Naples FL. as well as 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday January 25, 2011 from 4 – 8 pm at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St. Hyannis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday January 26 at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, South St. Hyannis.
