VG and I had offices across the hall from each other for a time at Cape Cod Community College. We were colleagues and friends. It was very evident that his focus was on students and he was an effective teacher. We need more VG's on our campuses.

VG was one of my favorite professors at 4'Cs.  Being one of his "older" students at the time, knowing I was working and raising 3 children while working towards my degree, his patience and understanding helped me through when I thought I wouldn't be able to manage all 3 and keep my sanity.. He was an inspiration and great motivator...a great teacher and will be greatly missed.  When someone mentioned the name VG.. everyone always knew who you were speaking of... Rest in peace VG 💚

VG's largesse of spirit lives on in all who knew him.  To all his family members and friends, I'm sorry for your loss.

I was one of VG's colleagues at Cape Cod Community College. For a number of years our offices were across the hall from one another. VG was a true gentleman, great teacher and his love of his students was beyond question. He will be missed.

I have often wished for Cape Cod Community College to have a few more people like VG.  But the truth is, he was one of a kind. 

Generous, kind hearted, and encouraging to faculty and students alike, VG embodied what it means to have a strong faculty- student life partnership. He was a visionary and encouraged students to stretch beyond their local experiences to see global connections. 

What a tremendous loss. I will always remember you fondly, VG. Thank you for sharing your life with us.  

I never met Virender Gautam but my son was a student. Virender made it possible for him to go to India with classmates as part of a course on international relations. It was life changing for my son and I am deeply grateful to Virender  for giving him the opportunity to experience other cultures and broaden his mind. My son benefited from Virender’s wisdom and grace. Blessings to his family, may his memory bring you greater joy than sadness.

I first met Virenderji (sorry, never called him VG, don't know why!) when he interviewed for the job at CCCC. I believe it was Dean Agustin Dorado who was taking him around campus, and happened to see me, the only other Indian on campus. Over the years, I have witnessed the amazing rapport he had with his students, and his deep concern for their careers. His development of new courses that addressed the effects of globalization were spot on. He will be remembered for the study tours he organized to various locations. A very significant loss to the college indeed, and to the community as well. RIP, you will not be forgotten.

I was always so impressed with VG's commitment to his students as evidenced by the opportunities he created for them through his teaching,  the Economics club, the Rotoract club, and the many international trips he organized for them.  In addition to being their professor of Economics, he went above and beyond in tirelessly creating so many enriching opportunities for them.  My office was right across the hall from VG and he always had students wanting to meet with him or discuss upcoming activities sponsored by the clubs.  On a personal level, VG and I would often visit in late afternoon when we were the only ones left on the floor and share stories about our dogs, their attachment to us, their little quirks.  I also admired his commitment to his cultural traditions that he shared every year with students and faculty in honoring the life of his father.  He was a very special man.  He will be missed by our community.  I am grateful for having known him and send my deepest condolences to his family.  

As a colleague, VG was a wonder to behold.  He opened his students’ and colleagues’ eyes to different cultures in so many ways, including international trips, discussion of international economies, and his annual celebrations of the lives of his family members.  The mark he made on his students in particular was remarkable, as so many students will attest.  He will be missed.

Professor VG was a fantastic teacher. I wasn't the average college student - 3 kids, 3 jobs, and a full time course load at 32. He encouraged me to join the Economics Club and immerse myself in the 4Cs culture. He always encouraged me to keep striving to be more and never worry about any limits. I am so thankful for him and I know he touched 1000s of students and others in the community. Rest in peace as this chapter is done. Memory eternal

I always heard very positive, respectful things about Professor Guatam from my students who took his classes.  I think I speak on behalf of them when I say that we are all grateful for his years of selfless service to our college and community.  He left an upstanding legacy that we will not forget.

VG was a source of compassion, strength and inspiration. I had the honor of working with him on multiple projects through the years, some professional and others personal, and always with the greatest of respect and admiration. His humor and smile will be sorely missed. His legacy will continue to grow from those he taught and worked with. Thank you VG for your time gifted to us as you join the ancestors. Namaste.

I remember going to VG's house with a friend for meditation in the basement studio. I still have a CD of his.

I had the privilege and honor of working with Prof VG as he taught remote economics courses for 4Cs students on Martha's Vineyard.
He was a dedicated, masterful teacher who inspired and supported his students while sharing his knowledge and passion for his field of study. I had the honor of taking VG’s micro and macro economics classes at 4C’s. He was me and my brothers favorite teacher at the college. He was extremely smart, and passionate about what he taught. He took the time to help any student who needed it without hesitation. He was always making jokes and genuinely such a happy person. I had the privilege of taking care of VG in his final weeks, as heartbreaking as it was. I told him I was his student a few years ago and it brought a smile to his face (which was very rare to see). I made sure to let him know how loved and cared for he was everyday. I hope you are resting in the sweetest of peace professor. 

Virender possessed a commitment and passion for his students and colleagues; he will be truly missed. His quiet strength emboldened many at the College. To Virender's family, please know he will be in our thoughts as a wise and generous man.
