In loving memory of Alan Rogers, son of Joesph and Betty Rogers. Alan was born in the heart of Kansas City on March 29, 1950. An only child Alan grew up getting into mischief and becoming who he was with all the neighborhood kids. As he got older neither school nor sports were really his thing, but he would ace all things history related. After getting his diploma he signed up for the Vietnam war and served in the army and fought alongside other soldiers in the 82nd airborne division.
After returning from the war Alan married and remarried twice and had one daughter Stephanie Niehoff, before meeting his final wife Frances Rogers, who had two daughters that he treated as his own Delena Lusby and Holly Miller.
Throughout the years Alan became a man of many careers between driving the bus for the city to driving a concrete truck which was his favorite of all and to printing T-shirts which was his final job before retiring early from underlying health issues.
Alan was a kind and compassionate person, there wasn’t anyone he wouldn’t help purely out of the kindness of his heart. He was patient when it came to raising his youngest stepdaughter Holly Miller and then eventually her own daughter and his granddaughter Dakota Banks.
One of his favorite activities/festivities was going to Sturgis with his wife Frances and their biker group they road with to South Dakota every first week of August just for bike week in Sturgis. Alan also had various hobbies as of fishing, golfing, playing pool\competing in tournaments as well as tournaments for bowling.
In July of 2023 Alan was given some pretty harsh news about his declining health, unfortunately he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and was told he had two years to live. Tragically, Alan passed on Veterans Day, November 11th, 2023. A bittersweet end to the life of a great man. Alan is reunited with his fellow soldiers honoring not only himself but all of the fallen soldiers. In his passing he leaves behind his wife Frances and his granddaughter Dakota who both cared for him in his final moments.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nolandroadchapel.com for the Rogers family.
