Independence, MO – Angela Kathleen Barkley-Grohusky passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1982 in Kansas City, KS. She was the daughter of Kathie Ann Barkley, James Micheal Barkley, and stepmother Deborah Barkley.
Known as Angie by those close to her, she is survived by her husband Brendan Grohusky, her beloved daughter Katieann Grohusky, her sisters Laura Bryson and Megan Colwell, her nephew Alex James, and her niece Annabelle Kathleen, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Kathie Ann Barkley.
Angie was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, caring mother, sister, daughter and friend who brought light into every room. Angie didn't know a stranger. She had a bold personality that brought happiness and laughter to everyone.
She graduated from Piper High School in 2001 and dedicated her career to childcare. Angie was a talented, all-city choir singer in high school. She was a passionate reader and loved spending time with her cherished family.
A celebration of her life will be held in Spring 2026 (details forthcoming). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Heart Association in her honor.
