He was raised and educated in Iowa, and was one of four children. On February 21, 1958, he married Anna Louise Riley, together they had four children. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the rank of Airman Second Class.
Billy loved to play chess, drive his Mustang convertible, exercise, spending time with his 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He attended Safe Harbor Baptist Church in Independence.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna, daughter Sandra McCorkendale, brother and sisters.
He is survived by sons, Billy Jr. (Debbie), Rodney (Elizabeth); daughter, Kimberly (Larry) Lewis; Grandchildren, Dustin, Lindsey, Lucas, Nicholas, Zachary, Ashley, Lance and Rachel; Great Grandchildren, Matthew, Caden, Abigal, Declan, Thomas, Ethan, Teigan, Gavin, Grayson, Lily and two on the way.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Safe Harbor Baptist Church in Independence, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
