Carmela was born on March 18, 1948 in Mexico City, Mexico.
She spent over 25 years working in the Food Service Department for the Independence School District.
She will always be remembered for her hospitality and cooking, however, she did hold her recipes close to her heart. Carmela loved taking her daily walks with her husband at McCoy Park, taking Zumba classes, gardening, knitting, cooking and traveling. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Carmela was grateful for her kind neighbors and their friendship and support over the years. She made enormous sacrifices for her family to allow them to make sure that they succeeded in life.
Carmela is survived by her husband Timoteo Gamboa; daughter, Jackie (Galen) Slagle; daughter Angie (Seth) McMenemy and son Timmy (Celeste) Gamboa; grandchildren Antonio Linhart, Ethan McMenemy and Isabella Gamboa; and Carmela’s Siblings Lilia Narvaez, Maria Katamura, Gina Tapanes, Alfredo Katamura, Elaine Katamura, Cindy Sagastume and Wendy Katamura as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the PAN Foundation (http://www.panfoundation.org).
The Gamboas would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses, doctors, hospice care, palliative care, chaplain and other staff at Liberty Hospital for their generosity and compassion.
Carmela will be dearly missed.
