

Carrell “Dean” Moreland went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday July 14th 2025, at his home in Independence Missouri, he was 83. “Dean” was born at home in Farry, Oklahoma on July 26th, 1941. His family moved to Washington State when he was 2 yrs old, he grew up in Vancouver and graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School in 1959.
Dean was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church (formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Church was very important to him, he was a pastor on numerous occasions. He performed many weddings; he also took his ministry to inmates at the Clark County Jail.
Dean loved being a grandparent and enjoyed every moment he had with his grandkids; he was always offering to take his grandkids to church, the mall, or even fishing. Most can remember Dean as someone who loved to tell jokes. He would tell jokes to any random cashier; or even start his sermons with a joke. He loved to make others laugh.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents Don & Nellie Moreland, two brothers Darrell & Allen Moreland, sister Wilma Brancaccio, daughter Pamela Moreland. He is survived by his wife Karen who he has been married to for 62 years, and two sons Ronald Moreland (Vancouver, WA) & Rodney Moreland (Independence, MO), brother Wray Moreland, sister Wanda Strong, and 4 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids.
A memorial service will be set at a later date, in both Independence, MO and Vancouver/Ridgefield, WA.
