Glenda was born on January 1, 1957 to Dean and Leota Shook (Camden), in Ottumwa Iowa before her family moved to Independence, Missouri when she was in the second grade. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1975. Shortly after high school, she earned her Certified Nursing Assistant license and began a career in the nursing field. On September 10, 1987, she met the love of her life at the Class Reunion in Blue Springs, Missouri- John Lee, where they shared their love for dancing and music. They attended many concerts together, including Loverboy, Rolling Stones, U2, and KISS- just to name a few. On December 13, 1991 Glenda gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Nicole Black (Lee). A few years after Nicole was born, Glenda decided she wanted to be a full time mom and stay home to raise her daughter. Glenda and her family of three would spend many summers traveling to various racetracks in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa- Eagle Raceway and Knoxville Raceway were just a couple of her favorites. Spending time with her family and taking care of them were her top priorities. Her love for her family was her greatest achievement. She also loved to travel when she could, in November 2018 she was able to take a family vacation to Disneyland and relaxed on the beach, also. She loved to spend most of her time enjoying the outdoors. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, she would always wish for a white Christmas, as she loved the snow. In 2018, her first and only grandchild, Colton was born, and she was over the moon about him. She spent the last two years of her life spoiling and loving on him. She made the most out of the last year and a half and spent everyday with her other half and family making lasting memories.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Leota Shook. Glenda is survived by her significant other John Lee, her daughter Nicole Black (Lee), son-in-law Ryan Black, beloved grandson Colton, brother Rick Shook, one aunt, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
