Haddock Carroll Snyder Sr. “Sarge” Feb. 13 1922- May 22 2017 Carroll Snyder passed away on May 22 2017, at St Luke’s Hospice House. Born in Kansas City, Mo. to Haddock Clay and Delpha P Snyder. Preceded in death by his wife of 68 years DeEtta M Snyder and his niece Jennifer J Henderson. He is survived by his children, H.C. and “Sherrlene” Snyder Jr., Sherry L. Snyder, Karen and “Fred” Williams, and Toni’ L Snyder. Also survived by his grandchildren, Ala’n and” Keith” Clevenger, Matt and” Laurel “Williams, and his great grandchildren Leah, Eden and Benjamin. Further survived by his sister Martha A. Schmidgall, and her daughters Lorna Jones and Ann Brooks. Carroll spent much of his childhood Wyoming. He would fondly recall his many adventures as a young boy. Of course, of most of these his parents were blissfully unaware. He attended and graduated from high school in Warsaw, MO. Eventually he came to Independence, MO. where he would meet his wife, DeEtta during a Book of Mormon class at church. He was a member of the Restoration church of Jesus Christ Hill Cumorah branch for about 30 years. He was ordained to office of deacon after many years of voluntarily performing these services for his church. Carroll enlisted and retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service. He served as an instrument panel mechanic and often said he was chosen because he was a petite man. In those days, you had to be small enough to crawl up under the dash. He spoke often of his “birds” and never lost interest in them. After retiring from the service he worked for TWA for twenty years, doing the same kind of work. There are many children, neighbors, friends and community theatre friends that believed Dad could fix anything. As his grand- daughter and great grand- daughter often said “get a screw driver and fix it please.” There are many of us who worry there will be a lot more broken things setting around that will never be fixed.
