Ilse was born March 22, 1927 in Ostpreussen, Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1954. She worked as a nurse in Germany and continued her career in the US, working as an obstetrical RN. She spent her entire career working at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. She was very active in the German community in Kansas City. She was a life-long member of the German-American Citizens Association and the German representative on the Kansas City Ethnic Commission. She loved to sing, so much so, that she started a Leiderkranz thru the GACA.
Ilse was preceded in death by her parents, Bruno and Charlotte Breyer. Also by her sister and brother, Christa Adomeit and Ulli Breyer. She was widowed twice, Hermann Bunk and Hans Brodersen. Ilse is survived by her daughters, Ingrid (Ben) Snell and Annemarie “Mimi” (Dennis) Newby. Four grandchildren, Brad (Stephanie) Newby, Zac (Karla) Snell, Kati (Josh) Lager and Leighanne (Ross) Weir. Nine great grandchildren, Kali Barnes, Harlow Newby, Kateeri Barnes, Charlotte Snell, Colton Lager, Lily Lager, Kinley Weir, Gillam Snell and Ryker Newby.

Services for Ilse will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main Str, Independence, MO. Visitation will be prior to service from 10:30 – 11:00.
