

He was born in Wellston, MO (St. Louis County) on June 28, 1946. James was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, an Eagle Scout and all around, renaissance man. He loved his family, fishing, music (especially jazz and old country) & was once an accomplished trumpet player. He was a well-traveled and well-read man that was always quick to make a joke and put others at ease. He was a man of many talents and found success in the Sales industry for many years and also worked as the lead Engineer on a Tug Boat that went up and down the Mississippi and Missouri rivers; this was one of his favorite jobs.
James served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer (Machinist Mate) onboard the USS Procyon during the Vietnam War and received numerous medals, sea service ribbons and other awards.
He is survived by his two sons James Martin McCluskey and Shawn Patrick McCluskey. His Ex-Wife Carol Usher. His grandchildren Riley McCluskey, Mia McCluskey, Ollie McCluskey, Quinn McCluskey, Hayze Devore-McCluskey. His sister Marcia McCluskey, brother Tim McCluskey and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that were all close to his heart. Fair winds and following seas Dad. We'll always love and remember you..
A memorial gathering for James will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S NOLAND RD, INDEPENDENCE, MO 64050, followed by a military honors from 6:00 PM to 6:10 PM.
