

Johnny J. Westerman, 76 of Kansas City Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 24th at Baptist Homes of independence, Mo.
Johnny was born on May 31, 1947 in Cairo Illinois, to John and Lorene Westerman.
Johnny married Bonnie Norris on May 3, 1984, and she preceded him in death in April of 2013, after 29 years of marriage.
Johnny is survived by two sisters, Rose Marie Sharpe of Independence, Missouri, and Bonnie Hall, (husband Mike) of Seminole, Florida, one sister-in-law, Sharon, Coffel, (husband, Jess) of Duquoin, Illinois, one brother-in-law, Mark Norris, (wife, Tina) and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lorene Westerman, three brothers; Joe, James, and George, and brother-in-law Glenn Sharpe.
Johnny, along with his family moved from Cairo, Illinois to Kansas City in 1956, where he spent the rest of his life.
Johnny worked as a maintenance man for Andes & Robert’s Construction. and as a courier for 2 different companies.
Johnny was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Kansas City, where he attended faithfully his entire life.
The greatest passion of Johnny’s life was attending church and serving God, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enthusiastically used his talent of singing in the church, and in churches across the country. He sang solos, in duets, trios, quartets, men’s groups, and choirs, all in Praise to the honor and glory to God. His love and dedication to the church, and the gift of music he was given, and used so faithfully, will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be a graveside service on Monday August 28th, 2pm at Brooking Cemetery, on 53rd & Pittman Rd in Kansas City with the Rev Mark Norris officiating
