

Larry Vernon Belk, 79, passed away Saturday, August 21,2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City Missouri.
Larry, born in Loma Linda California on March 27, 1942, he was the oldest of three children born to James Willard & Vivian Pauline Belk. He was raised on their farm in Wheatland Missouri. He attended White Could Elementary School and graduated from Wheatland High School in the class of 1961.
Larry married Phyllis Jackson on December 2, 1961. His first son, James Martin Belk was born on August 3, 1962. Phyllis proceeded him in death on September 5, 1963. She and their infant son passed away during childbirth.
Larry met Sylvia Ann Damron when they were both working at Fairbanks Morse Scale Company in Kansas City Missouri. They were married on January 4, 1964. They would go on to spend 57 wonderful years growing their family. During that time, he worked at Hallmark Cards, Continental Bus Company, Kenworth, and Lake City Armory. He retired from Bayer in November 1999 after 27 years of faithful service. After retirement he worked part time at Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet to keep busy.
Larry was a country boy to the bone. He loved being on the family farm in Wheatland, hunting with his sons and fishing with anyone that wanted to go. His story telling is beyond compare, he had one for every situation. He was a dedicated husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather. He loved hearing his grand and great grandkids call him Poppy. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His pride in his family was evident at every turn.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia, of the home. Son, James Belk and wife Jeannie. Daughters Angela Lunceford and husband Tim. Diana Wenzel and husband Dean. Lisa Porter and husband Richard. Son, Shawn Belk and wife Shannon. Sister, Patsy Brownlee. Sister, Sandra Young and husband Jack. Grandchildren Erin Lunceford, Andrea Beardsley and husband Steven, Jenni Lunceford, Audrey Tomiello and husband Matt, Timothy James Lunceford, Ashley Thompson and husband Damon,
Michael Lunceford, Alec Belk, Dallas Carlman and Joselyn Toler. He has fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis and infant son, his parents, James & Pauline Belk. Father-in law Forest Richmond and mother-in law Sue Richmond. Brother-in-law Larry Brownlee, brother-in-law John Damron and sister-in-law Rose Pipes.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation services are provided by Newcomers Noland Road Chapel in Independence Missouri. A private family memorial will be held at a time to be determined. The family requests no flowers. But if you feel compelled to do something in his honor, pay it forward with kindness to others. That is how Larry lived his life.
