

She was born August 17, 1939, to J.J. and Violet Wood in Forsyth, MO and graduated from Forsyth High in 1957. After graduation she attended Business College in Springfield, MO. She moved to Kansas City, MO to accept a job offer at Central Technical Institute where she met her husband of almost 61 years, Russell B. Pepper, Jr. They married September 17, 1961 and had 4 children, Jeff, LuAnn (Troy Garrison), Jay (Laura), and, Spencer (Toni Lynn).
She was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown, MO. She helped in the kitchen there, sang in the choir and played the bells at every opportunity given her. Music was one of her many talents, She played the piano, saxophone, clarinet, and, taught herself how to play the ukulele. She loved to crochet and quilt and donated many of her items to those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Elnore Ann, and, brother-in-law, William “Bill” Sulgrove. She is survived by her husband, children, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and, a niece and nephew.
The family would like to express our gratitude to all those who were so supportive with their thoughts and prayers. Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel is providing the funeral arrangements and visitation will be at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown, MO on February 17 at 10:00 am with services following at 11:00 am. The interment will be at Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, MO following the services.
