Jean Short

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Jean Short, at the Montmartre Health Care facility at the age of 74.

Jean was formerly from the Candiac area where they farmed for years before retiring to Glenavon.

She was predeceased by her husband Allan Short in 2002; her parents Frank and Mary Rydzik; siblings: Walter, Joe and Stanley; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Anne Short; brothers- in- law and sisters-in-law: Stanley Gilewicz, Katherine (Short) and Roger Davies, Steve Short, Murray Short, Alexandra (Short) and Peter Gilewicz and Gerald Cross.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Carol (Vern) Ripplinger of Kendal, Patsy (Dale) Heintz of Regina, her precious granddaughters Ashlyn and Madison Heintz and Taryn Ripplinger. She is also survived by her sister Pauline Gilewicz, and sisters in law, Gloria Rydzik, Kathleen Rydzik, Joyce Rydzik all of Regina, Olga Cross of Glenavon, Victoria Short of Carlyle and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was an avid gardener, loved her flowers, enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing cards and especially cooking. She shared her love for cooking with us and made sure we knew all the secret recipes and all the traditional foods for Easter and Christmas, although our dishes were never quite as tasty as hers.

Prayers will be held at the Tubman Funeral Home in Wolseley on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:00 pm.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Regina, 1920 Toronto St. Regina, Sk.

Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montmartre Integrated Health Facility (Activities), Box 206, Montmartre, SK. S0G 3M0 in her memory as mom enjoyed all the activities and entertainment that was provided and would like it to continue for the rest of her friends.

We would like to thank the Montmartre Health Care Centre and staff for the wonderful care and support given to mom over the past few years and Dr. Pebane of Indian Head.
