It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynn Marie Tomaschefski on December 14, 2021 in Regina. Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side. She was predeceased by her Mother Madeline Guzzwell, Father Lara Guzzwell, Aunt/Mother Katherine Schaaf and many aunts and uncles. She leaves behind her loving husband Luke Tomaschefski of 49 years, her sons Chad (Tanya) and Brandon (Jordan), daughters Lee (Alistair) and Vicki (Vance) and grandchildren: Jacey (Tayvian), Kieran, Cairo, Emma, Brynlee, and Doc. Her brothers Brian and Ken (Geryl), sisters Elaine and Cathy (Kevin) and many nieces and nephews.
Mom fought 2 rare auto immune diseases for 25 years, but never gave up. She wanted to live every day and not wait for life to happen. Mom’s true passion was empowering the minds of our youth. She spent 32 years teaching in the Catholic school system. Upon retiring she found she was not ready to stop moulding young minds and continued to substitute teach with the Catholic school system, Prairie Valley School Division and the Lajord Colony for another 17 years. She often shared stories of the wonderful kids she got to impress upon the importance of religion and education. However her greatest accomplishment was teaching her family. As the Matriarch, she took it upon herself to ensure that we never gave up no matter what. Every obstacle was only a detour and for every problem she helped us find a solution.
Mom had many hobbies. In her younger days she loved playing ball, horse back riding and coaching. As she grew older she fell in love with stain glass, arts and crafts, travelling with Dad and gardening. Gardening was always a way mom could find solitude. She spent many hours, not only making her yard beautiful but helping us make ours as beautiful.
Mom’s devotion to Jesus Christ was always unwavering. Being part of the church was mandatory for all of the family and helped instil a strong base of good values. The love of her life, Luke Tomaschefski, stood by her side for 53 inspiring years. Their devotion to God and family has always been the rock that their lives were built upon.
We would like to thank the MICU staff at the Regina General Hospital for their caring and compassion in Mom’s final days and hours. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Canadian Feed The Children, 123 - 6 Lansing Square, Toronto, Ontario, M2J 1T5 (https://canadianfeedthechildren.ca/).
