

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann (Reynolds) Peyton; his two children, Matthew Jason and Elizabeth Anne; his sister Helene (Leonard) DeModna and brother Ron (Helene) Peyton; nephews Robert (Crissy) DeModna, Michael (Ann Marie) DeModna, Ian (Christine) DeModna, Aaron (Roxanne) Peyton, Adam Peyton; great nieces and nephews Angelina, Dominic, Joseph, Kayla, Krista, Kiki DeModna and Nathan, Sadie Peyton.
Al enjoyed his career as a medicinal chemist, most recently at Eli Lilly and Company (1987-present). His roles at Lilly included work in pharmacology drug disposition, recruitment, and his most recent position as Director of Global Quality Auditing and Compliance. He valued all of his experiences at Lilly, and took particular pride in his involvement in diversity initiatives. His previous employers include Lederle Labs and Berlex Labs.
Al graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1978. He obtained his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from Purdue University in 1983. He was awarded the honor of Distinguished Alumni from Purdue University in 1996.
He could be found on a golf course, tennis court or in the yard and garden during his downtime. He enjoyed his friendships and valued his association with any organization that served the needs of others, always believing that an outstretched arm was a way to improve our world. Al will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with much passion for the people in his life. He will be missed by many.
Services to be held at Crown Hill and Funeral Home as follows: Calling on Wednesday, June 27th from 3-6 pm, and Memorial Service at 2 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2018.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers friends consider a donation to Agape of Indiana or Habitat for Humanity in Al's name.
