Anthony Curtis Elliott was born on January 28, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Deana Jo Hites Elliott-Hause and Donald Joseph Knight. He was also blessed with bonus parents, Curtis and Yvonne Wingo, who love him dearly.
Anthony graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1985. Throughout his working years, he was employed at K-Mart, Tom O’Brien, and with the City of Indianapolis.
Anthony was united in holy matrimony with Tonya “Toni” Ford on February 14, 2004. Through this union, he lovingly embraced her two children, Ericka Smith (David), Zachery T. Harris (Najah). Anthony was a rock for his wife while working at Tonia Bear’s Child Care, where he helped mold strong foundations for children of all ethnic backgrounds.
In adulthood, Anthony rededicated his life to the Lord and became a faithful member of New Direction Worship Center.
Anthony had a deep love for life and many passions, including fishing, golf, bowling, visiting the gun range, racetracks, and listening to music-especially Prince. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and had a special love for cars. He enjoyed working on them, admiring them, and spending hours talking about them. Anthony was especially passionate about children and the elderly. He also loved traveling to Wisconsin for the famous cheese curds. Anthony was kind, giving, and hardworking.
Anthony was preceded in death by his grandfather Doyle Fryer, grandparents Mary and Richard Hites, Big Mama Lonnie Bell Wingo; his mother Deana Jo Hites Elliott-Hause; his father Donald Joseph Knight; his sister Tammy Elliott (Steve); his brother Jon Hause; and his nephew Adam Wylie.
He leaves to cherish his devoted wife Tonya/Toni Elliott; his siblings Danielle Hause, Tracy Griffin, Tony Brooks, Kirk Wingo, and Brandon Wingo (Erica); his beloved children Ericka and Zachery, grandchildren Darion, Destiny, David (Tre), Jaelynn, Ira, King, Jordynn, Kennedy, Jedi, Tessa, and Zahra; his grandmother Louise Fryer; and a host of nieces and nephews; and his extended families at Costco and Riverside Fleet Services.
Anthony would like to acknowledge the four women who lovingly sacrificed their time to serve as his caregiving team during his illness: his wife Toni Elliott, Irma Nelson, Penny Gilbert, and Jeanine Allen. He also extends special thanks to his bonus brother Steve Wright and his father-in-law Barry Ford.
Anthony passed away just as he requested-having made it to his 59th birthday, peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife, friends, family, and grandchildren. Anthony leaves a message to all men: please get tested EARLY for prostate cancer and other health conditions that continue to affect our male population.
We are related by blood, but family by love. Everyone present is a testament to the impact Anthony had on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. You were a true fighter, Anthony. You have earned your place in heaven.
Rest in peace. We love you.
