Austin Ray Young, Sr. brought joy into the lives of the late Theodore and Helen A Young on the day of his birth September 20, 1945, in Indianapolis Indiana.
When his life ended October 15, 2016, he had lived his life the way he wanted until the very end. Austin answered God’s merciful call for his journey of passage from life to death, where he can now rest with God and be reunited with family that awaits him.
Austin professed a belief in Christ as a child and was baptized on January 18, 2015 at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Austin was a proud member of UAW Local 98 where he worked at International Harvester/Navistar for 30 years and retired after a long career.
Austin is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Helen; also by his brother Freeman.
Austin was going to do things his way and anyone that knew him understood that he would only do things on his terms. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. May we continue to celebrate the life and memories he left behind while striving to have the freedom to choose our own path as he did.
Austin is survived by sons; Thomas, Austin Jr. His companion of 35 years Diane Deloney, son Raymond; daughters Brianna and Dee Dee; Sisters Charlotte, Carole, Marlene, and Gwendolyn; Brothers Roger, Western (JoAnn), Howard (Sharron), and Rahn-Ellis.
