Barbara W. Deck

Barbara Wilkins Deck died peacefully on March 4, 2022, at age 97. Born in 1924 in Gary, Indiana, to Jacob and Nellie Wilkins, Barb graduated from Horace Mann High School and Indiana University, where she was in Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married George H. Deck, the love of her life, in 1948. They were married for 61 years. They raised three daughters — Laura, Pam and Nancy — in Indianapolis and were blessed with six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Known for her style and beauty, Barb above all cherished her family and friends. She was an excellent bridge player, volunteered for numerous charities, and loved to travel, entertain and play golf. She had a career as a Realtor for 15 years after her daughters were grown.

Barbara is survived by her sister Mary Jayne Nehrboss, daughters Laura (Tom) Cunningham of Brevard, N.C., Pam (Mark) Albrecht of Petersburg, Ill., and Nancy Mutchmore of Carmel, Ind. Grandchildren: Drew Cunningham (Cami Glaff); Morgan Albrecht (Christian Honap), Matt Albrecht (Chelby), Michael Albrecht (Lance Vascura); Paige Mutchmore and Carter Mutchmore (Elizabeth Barton). Great Grandchildren: Hadley, Annie, Lucy and Sully Albrecht.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband George, son-in-law Kent Mutchmore, great granddaughter Alta Rose Albrecht, parents Jacob and Nellie Wilkins, four beloved Wilkins siblings, and in-laws George H. Sr. and Mayme Deck.
