

Barbara was born in Indianapolis to Henry Augustus Hobbs and Vera Norris Hobbs on February 27, 1934. She married Keith Allen Hays on November 14, 1953. She attended Arsenal Technical High School and graduated in 1951. She was very active in her ladies Sub-Deb club, volunteered many years on the Reunion Planning committees and always enjoyed attending the reunions. Barbara held a variety of employment positions, from a sales associate at Rost Jewelers, secretary at Enochs Manufacturing, to sales support at Boehringer Mannheim Diagnostics (now known as Roche Diagnostics). She volunteered for the Sunnyside Guild, affiliated with Wishard Hospital, for many years. Barbara was a long standing member of Wallace Street Presbyterian Church, the former Eastminster Presbyterian Church and finally Irvington Presbyterian Church. She was an active participant in the women’s bible study group.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Keith Hays, her parents Henry and Vera Hobbs, her brothers Kenneth Hobbs and Henry Hobbs Jr., and her daughter Janet Hays Thomas.
Barbara is survived by her son David (Amy) Hays, daughter Lori (Tracy) Friddle, sister-in-laws Junie (Kenneth) Hobbs, Joan (Henry) Hobbs. She had four amazing grandchildren: Heather (Naveed Khan) Thomas, Melani (John) Short, Chandler (Kate) Hays, and Nicholas Vella. Barbara’s life was filled with so much love and joy from her five great granddaughters: Ava, Kaydence, Paisley, Jessa and Hadley.
Visitation will be 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 11th, at the Gothic Chapel within Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Rev. Jonathan Reinink of Irvington Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow, within Crown Hill Cemetery, and a reception will conclude the services at the Gothic Chapel. Arrangements are by Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery.
