

Ms Barbara J. Woods Pasley was born on August 11, 1927 to Byron A. Moody and Ruth L. Moody in Tuskegee Alabama. She was also the Granddaughter of John William Whittaker the First Chaplain of Tuskegee Institute. Barbara, attended Tuskegee Institute High School graduating in 1945. It was there that Barbara developed a love and passion for music. Barbara sang in her school choir and performed at the prestigious Tuskegee Air Base for all service members as well as Eleanor Roosevelt. She met her first husband Edward Woods during one of her performances they married and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to them were born 4 girls. In 1956 Barbara, became employed with the US Postal Service. She was in the second group of women ever to to hired by the Postal Service. Barbara and Edward divorced in 1960. In 1967 she met Sterling Pasley and married in 1967 and to this union they had 1 daughter.
Barbara worked at the Postal Service for 24 years, 1 month and 2 days as a Distribution Clerk, General Expediter in the Truck Terminal before having to retire on disability in 1980. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Robert and Byron Moody. Daughter Cheryl Woods Jackson (Waymon). Barbara J. Woods Pasley, departed this life on September 30th 2018 at the age of ninety one years young.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughters; Wendy Martin-Burch (Lawrence) Jo Anne Pumphrey (Clinton deceased), Connie Woods Adams (John) and Gia Pasley; grandchildren; April Bills Edwards (Timothy), LaTanya and Ashley Jackson, Jeremy Martin, Jasmine and Corey Pumphrey (Ciara), Johnny Adams, Taneisha and Charles Rick Floyd III, brother; Thomas Moody: great grandchildren; Myles, Kai, Drew,Journee, Jasmine, Aiyanna, Johnny Jr., Gianna, Kennedy, Jordenn, Destini, Cameron, Cy'Niah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
