

61, of Indianapolis, departed this life Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Indianapolis. Bern was born August 19, 1952 in Indianapolis to Bernard and Eloise (Steele) French. Bern fell in love with all things nature at a young age. He had a courageous spirit and passion to learn. He enjoyed reading, making model airplanes, gardening and spending time with his family. Bern loved vacationing in South Haven, Michigan where he could watch the boats on the lake. His quick wit and sense of humor were unique and memorable. He worked his entire life as a finish carpenter, and was well-respected and admired for his attention to detail and the high quality of his work. His daughter and granddaughter were the joys of his life. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and gentle soul. Bern was preceded in death by his father, Bernard French. He is survived by his loving daughter, Megan (Tim) Bushman; his cherished granddaughter, Kinsley Bushman; mother, Eloise French; siblings, Michele French, Peter French, Theresa (Steve) French-Kanitra, Chris (Susan) French, Larry (Donna Makishima) French; his aunt, Jackie French, and four loving nephews.
