

85, of Indianapolis, passed away May 11, 2011. He was born September 21, 1925 in Dubois, Indiana the son of Frank and Margaret (Schmitt) Seger. Bernie was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army and a graduate of IU. He worked as an industrial engineer for Western Electric for 33 years. After retiring he worked various jobs. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was an Eucharist minister and participated in liturgical ministries. He was also a member of St. Meinrad Oblates, Knights of Columbus and the Pioneers. Bernie is the widower of Mildred (Uebelhor) Seger. He is survived by his children, Kathy (John) Evans, Jeffrey Seger, sister Florentine Mathias, brothers Charles, Linus and James Seger, grandchildren Michael (Brocha), Joe (Amanda), Andrew Evans, Katie, Matthew, Abby Seger, great grandchildren Mason McWaters and Aidan Evans. He is preceded in death by his son Mark Seger and grandson Christopher Evans, brothers Claude and Clete Seger. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m. at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday May 16, from 3 – 8 p.m. at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bernie’s name may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society or St Meinrad.
