Born on April 8, 1932, in Haynesville, Louisiana, Bobby was the third of four children. His mother, Lucy (Jones) Williams, tragically passed away when he was a young boy, leaving him and his siblings in the care of his father, Robert Lee Williams Sr. Growing up in the rural countryside, Bobby and his siblings attended school part of the year while working in the fields. They also attended the local church, where they learned the importance of hard work from a young age. In 1949, Bobby met Jessie Mae Wyrick of Magnolia, Arkansas, and they married on September 3rd. However, shortly after their wedding, Bobby was drafted into the US Army and served during the Korean War. In the early 1950s, Bobby and Jessie moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. To earn his high school diploma, Bobby attended Arsenal Technical High School at night while working days at the Candy Factory and later at the Spickelmeyer Factory. With an entrepreneurial spirit, Bobby bought and drove his own dump truck, naming it Williams Trucking Co. He also ventured into the furniture business, partnering in the Inner-City Furniture store. Additionally, Bobby and a few close friends opened a night club called The Palace Night Club, where he would often be found on the dance floor, enjoying his love for music. Throughout his life, Bobby was a member of the Black Business Owner Association and the Masonic Lodge. Bobby, a humble man, was a devoted father to all and a close friend to many. He would often offer wisdom, comfort, and advice to anyone who would listen. He had a passion for engaging in lively debates and was a reliable provider for his family. He welcomed everyone into his home and cherished visiting his family in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Ohio. Inspired by these experiences, he decided to purchase an RV, transforming it into his mobile home.
