Buddy (Jay) A. VanSickle, Jr., 76, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his home with family by his side. He was born March 16, 1941 in Indianapolis to the late Jay A. and Etta Virginia (Gray) VanSickle Alexander. He is also preceded in passing by his brothers, William and Ronald Alexander and Sister Barbara Parry.
He is survived by his wife, Louise (Worley) VanSickle; sons, Jay A. VanSickle, III, Brian Hall (Bonnie), Kevin J. VanSickle (Ruthanne); sisters, Patricia Whitehead and Carolyn Mace; and 7 grandchildren, Alex Hall, Sarah Hall, Tanner Smith, Joey VanSickle, Becca VanSickle, Jenna VanSickle, and Alex Van Sickle.
Buddy was a family man. He loved his wife, Louise, for over 44 years and was extremely proud of his 3 sons and 7 grandchildren. He loved country music, NASCAR, watching the Colts, and having fun.
Buddy was a hard working man who proudly owned and operated Van Sickle Remodeling and then Van Sickle Trucking with Louise and Kevin since 1973. Dump Trucks were a big part of his life and there wasn't a day that he didn't mention them. He taught and lived by example a strong work ethic.
Over the years, Buddy spent a lot of time boating on Lake Monroe and Lake Cumberland. Buddy enjoyed going to NASCAR races and watching Indianapolis Colts and Pacer games. He was just as happy playing cards with his friends, taking the grandkids to the water park for the weekends, or watching a Colts or Pacer game in Kevin's garage. He truly enjoyed and lived a full life.
Buddy served as an usher at St. Jude Catholic Church for many years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Lyal Order of the Moose, where he will be missed by many friends.
Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Little and Sons Colonial Chapel, 4901 E Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46237. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11 am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
