Carrie Lavern Garrison

Carrie Lavern Garrison, age 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Carrie was born April 2, 1955 in Florence, Alabama. Her parents were Tommy and Endia Louden. Carrie was raised in Harlem, New York. Even as a child, Carrie had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around her. She was raised to be love God, be warm, caring and friendly.

Carrie was easygoing and fun loving. Carrie was raised with four siblings. She had 4 younger brothers, Thomas, Eddie, Michael, and Larry. Carrie was married to Anthony Garrison on September 6, 1975 in New York City. Carrie and Anthony moved to Anderson, Indiana where Carrie and Anthony were blessed with 3 children, Anthony, Shonda, and Terry.

Carrie and Anthony were also blessed with 12 grandchildren, Shamyah, Alexus, Toni, Alazae, Ajayla, Kawaii, Leanah, Elijah, Duran, Nazeriah, Jeshane, Zania, and Javier and great-grandchildren. If she was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of her attention was directed.

At work, as in life, Carrie was a real “people person.” She had a very successful way of dealing effectively with others, and her enthusiasm and energy was often contagious. Carrie's talent for being a down to earth thinker, allowed many around her to see Carrie as an excellent problem solver. Her primary occupation was Collections Representative. She was employed in Management at American Accounts for many years and then went to work for Centra Credit Union for over 10 years.

Carrie enjoyed her leisure time by spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also liked to interior decorate. Her favorite pursuits were fashion, shopping, dancing, interior design, and helping others. Carrie was the go to person for so many of her family and friends. She was always a listening ear. Many people loved Carrie like their own mother and she was called " Mama G".

Throughout her later years, Carrie was an active member of her church Apostolic Tabernacle of Seymour. Some of her most prestigious awards included being recognized for having top collection units and managing others well.

Carrie passed away on September 23, 2021 at at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana. Carrie was preceded in death by her mother, Endie Louden, father, Tommy Louden, and her husband Anthony Garrison. She is survived by her four brothers, her children, grandchildren, great grand-children and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Carrie brought joy to all of those around her. Carrie Lavern Garrison lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her.
