

Catherine Marie Oechsli Bowron, 94, Indianapolis, passed away September 14. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she graduated from Ursuline Academy and Bryant Stratton Business College. She moved to South Bend, Indiana upon her marriage in 1941 to Sheridan "Dan" Walker Bowron, her husband of 55 years who preceded her in death. Catherine worked at Bendix Aviation Corporation. She moved to Indianapolis in 1956, when Dan joined Whitford and Whitford Insurance Agency. Catherine worked at the William H. Block Company for many years, and later at Whitford and Whitford as Dan's office manager.
Catherine was a 48-year member of Little Flower Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and participated in the Ladies Club and Mission Sewing Club. She was in the Purdue Extension Homemakers Club, an avid gardener and Notre Dame fan. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, trips with her siblings, bowling, sewing, hooking rugs, quilting, attending grandchildren's activities and Notre Dame football games.
Catherine was the daughter of Louis Victor Oechsli and Elizabeth Schiesser Oechsli. She was also predeceased by brothers, Louis and Lawrence; sister, Mildred; and son-in-law, John D. Staley. Survivors include eight children: Sharon (Paul) Steinmetz, Patricia Marie Bowron, Greg (Donna) Bowron, Susan Catherine Bowron-White (Gordon White), Bev Bowron-Staley, Carol Bowron-Payne (Mike Payne), Michael G. (Sara) Bowron and Judy (Jeff) Good; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward, Gilbert and Bernard Oechsli; sister, Mary Shacklette; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Snyder.
Visitation will be at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015. Calling will also be held at the mortuary Monday, September 21 at 10 a.m., with prayers at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 East 13th Street, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Little Flower Church. Many thanks to Premier Hospice and Visiting Angels South for their loving care.
