

Charmaine accepted Christ in her life at an early age and boldly proclaimed her love of God. Throughout her life she was a member of several local churches. Charmaine’s last known church was Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Charmaine spent her childhood growing up on the westside near Golden Hill Park with her sister Barbara Brown (Adams)(deceased), Father Otto Adams (deceased), her loving stepmom Georgia Adams(deceased)and lots of friends and family.
Charmaine received her elementary and secondary education from Indianapolis Public Schools in Indianapolis IN. She proudly graduated from the historic Crispus Attucks High School where only African Americans could attend In Indianapolis at that time.
While living in Indianapolis she worked for finance center at Fort Benjamin Harrison and retired after a long career as a distinguished employee of Methodist Hospital.
On July 12, 1958, Charmaine was united in holy matrimony to Willie T. Smith, Sr.(deceased) and shared 26 years of marriage before Willie T. Smith Sr. went to be with God. During their marriage they raised a blended family of 13 children. She loved them all unconditionally.
Charmaine Merle Smith was a selfless and caring person. Those who were in her life were remarkably touched by knowing Charmaine. She was a very honest and forthright woman. She was generous and enjoyed helping others without reservation or expecting anything in return. She loved God, husband, family and friends. Charmaine faithfully sought to be compassionate and forgiving.
As a cancer survivor since 1985 she lived a full life and laughed often. She appreciated God’s beauty. Charmaine’s life was an inspiration. Her memories will be treasured and will remain with us forever.
On May 13, 2025, Charmaine Merle Smith was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ just a few days before of her 97th birthday.
Charmaine survived by her children Arnold Keith (Ilona), Angela Daniels, Linda Smith and Donna Frank (Philip). Stepchildren Willie T. Smith Jr. Larry E. Smith, (Dana), Gengie Smith, Beverly A. Rogers (Jessie) Laura Thomas, Sharron Edwards, Mildred A. Smith, Step daughter -in-law Michele Smith (Walter – deceased), Grand Children Lorenzo Pacheco, Geneva Frank, Victor Frank, Brian Keith (Scarlett), Alisha Keith, Steven Voigt, Great Grandchildren Ella Malina and Rose Keith.
Preceding Charmaine Merle Smith in death are her parents Otto and Cornelia B Adams, stepmother Georgia Adams, Husband Willie T. Smith Sr. daughter Barbara Brandon, Stepson Walter W. Smith, grandson Cortney D. Daniels, and a host of additional relatives, family and friends.
John14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my, Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. A public visitation for Mrs. Charmaine Merle Smith, will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46218, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 PM..
